About Us
Shell & Coin is an independent blog about two things that reward people who read the fine print: Linux and money. We write step-by-step Linux guides for people who run their own machines and servers, and plain-language explainers on crypto, investing and personal finance for people who want to understand a product before they put money into it.
What we cover
- Linux guides: commands, system administration, networking, security and homelab setups, written for current Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL-family and AlmaLinux releases.
- Crypto and finance: how protocols, tokens, trading tools and savings accounts actually work, including the fees and risks.
- Reviews: comparisons of Linux software and tools, with the trade-offs spelled out.

How we write
- Commands should work as written. If a guide breaks on a newer release, we update it and change the “updated” date on the article.
- Sources are linked. Figures, statistics and quotes link to where they came from so you can check them.
- Nothing here is financial advice. Finance articles explain how things work. Prices, yields, fees and tax rules change, so check them for your own situation before acting.
- Affiliate links are disclosed. Some links earn us a commission at no cost to you. See the affiliate disclosure.

Why the domain says “coffee”
Good conversations about money and technology tend to happen over coffee, and the name stuck: a quiet desert morning, clear thinking, no rush. Shell & Coin is the blog; cavecreekcoffee.com is where it lives. We don’t sell coffee.
